According to new data released on May 16, the percent of the world’s population living in urban areas is expected to increase from 55 percent today to 68 percent by 2050. The “2018 Revision of World Urbanization Prospects” is produced by the Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
