2013 South-South Awards

This year's Awards, celebrated on Sunday, September 22 at the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, will feature heads of s tate and government, senior UN officials, leaders from civil society and the private sector, and world-class celebrities who have made significant contributions to South-South cooperation and development.

Notable attendees at this year's event include world-renowned songwriter, performer and composer David Paich. He has written or co-written multiplatinum hits such as "Hold the Line", "Africa", "Miss Sun", "Lowdown", and "Lido Shuffle," as well as collaborating on songs with Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Pink, Don Henley and many more. Paich and his band Toto were introduced into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2009.

For his extraordinary contributions to the world of music, David Paich is being honored with the 2013 South-South Award for Lifetime Cultural Achievement.

Additional attendees will include the award-winning duo Les Nubians whose fame earned them Grammy nominations and Soul Train Awards for their work.
